Red colour signifies inflammation. The characteristic boils of infections are red. Lumpy bruises are luey-yellow in colour and melanomas are generally dark brown to black, although this is not universally so. Lumps and swellings may appear with or without pain in this particularly private and personal area for a number of reasons. Although they can give great cause for convern, the majority of them are completely benign.
