Although some anemia may be caused by lack of iron, other varieties are caused by the inability to utilize or metabolize available iron.

Anaemia is basically caused by lack of iron, so although other things (eg pregnancy) can also lead to this, diet is often very important. Iron-rich foods include offal and dark green vegetables, but you can find a more complete listhere.
