I took cymbalta for fibromyalgia. One week at 30mg, one week at 60mg and immediately had two egg size patches of hair loss. Spoke to my doctor about and he told me that this was not caused by cymbalta. Continued to take it for 2 months and had to resort to a full wig. After I stopped taking it, my hair started to grow back. I had a full head of hair. The texture and thickness of my hair has changed. It's like baby hair. It has been two years now and my hair remains very thin. Use of a wig is still necessary.

YES, IT DOES CAUSE HAIR LOSS! After taking it for 5 months to help with my firbromyalgia pain, I am losing my hair. I called Eli Lilly and they said that they did not have to report any side effects that were less than 5%.
If you have hair loss from this drug PLEASE contact them and the FDA. Patients have to start being more proactive and holding them accountable! The FDA form is easily filled out online and includes a postage paid return label. Why can't these drugs that help with pain have less serious side effects? The drug companies have to work harder.

I had been taking Cymbalta 60mg for a couple of months before I noticed my hair coming out. At first I thought it might be my thyroid and wasn't alarmed. I scheduled an appointment to have my TSH levels checked and they were fine. The doctor told me he didn't think it was the Cymbalta and recommended that I stay on the medication. After six months of major hair loss I just decreased my dosage and stopped. The hair loss continued for about a month but did eventually stop. I'm hoping that my normally thick hair returns to it's normal thickness.

I have been on Cymbalta 60mg for 4 months and my hair is thinning at an alarming rate.
I have an appointment with a dermatologist to see if there is another cause but I have always had long thick hair. It is about 1/3 of what it once was.

Yes.My dear friend has been on Cymbalta for a few months and has lost large patches of hair. Now as she trys to go off of it she is suffering terrible withdraw symptoms even while weaning off of it with her doctors help. This drug is so scary. Always try drugs that have been out on the market for a while first before trying new things. Also it is best to work with a phychiatrist to get your meds correct, not a family practice or OB doctor.

I have only used Cymbalta for 3 or 4 months and have quickly noticed my hair thinning...I am freaking out...so, I stopped Cymbalta, cold turkey, yup!  I have been feeling dizzy and some head aches for the past few days but nothing major.  I have been totally off now for about 9 days....no change in hair behavior so far....I am praying hard!!!

I took Cymbalta for 6 weeks and noticed my hair thinning soon after I started it.  I'd see gobs of hair on the floor, in the shower, etc.  Just running my fingers through my hair would cause a clump to fall out.

I've been off Cymbalta for about a month now... My doc switched me to Effexor. The hair loss seems to be slowing... I'm hoping it all comes back.  I'm also taking a Chinese herb to help make my hair more healthy.  It's called Fo-Ti.

Cymbalta is used to treat depression and anxiety related problems. Hair loss during treatment with this drug has rare chance. This lose can be temporary and your hair can come back if the hair follicles are alive. Remember, the depression and anxiety themselves causes hair loss.

Cymbalta does not cause hair loss. I have been taking it to protect my kidneys, not as an anti-depressent. In either case, my physician never mentioned anything about hair-loss, and I haven't lost any hair other the normal loss people experience. You should read the information that comes with the prescription.

Yes Cymbalta is prescribed for multiple reasons but you can't say that just because it didnt cause YOUR hair to fall out that other people can't experience this issue. I have been on cymbalta for about 8 months and my hair has been falling out like crazy for the past 5 to 6 months and it has never ever come out this much for this long before and is noticeably thinning.I am almost completely off it now and almost convinced it is a side affect of the cymbalta.I guess I will know in a few months

Plus at the end of the day doctors are humans just like us and can be wrong from time to time and do make mistakes so even though he told you that it doesnt make it a fact. The fact is people's hair is falling out after being on it.

Yes, Robyn... as Bethanie said... Just because YOUR hair didn't fall out doesn't mean it can't happen to other people. Furthermore, just because your "physician never mentioned anything about hair-loss..." Come ON. Doctors work for the drug companies. Bet your physician didn't mention THAT, either....eh? Hahaha. And yes, I have been taking Cymbalta for a couple of months and my hair has been falling out like crazy too.... Just as has been happening to many, many other people. And in EACH AND EVERY CASE, their "doctors" tried to convince them it wasn't due to taking Cymbalta... And why do you think THAT is? Hmmm? It's because THEY DON'T WANT TO BE SUED FOR Rx-ing this crap like candy, THAT'S why. Nor do their want to lose the Summer vacation the Cymbalta company offered them. I mean really....WAKE UP PEOPLE.
