Crystal meth can be administered in a number of different ways...
- Injection: Injection is the most risky of all methods of adminstering the drug. Users risk blocking a main artery, and - as with other injected substances - the sharing of needles is a substantial health risk which can spread diseases such as HIV.
- Smoking: The drug is usually smoked in a glass device known as an "ice pipe". Smoking the substance refers to inhaling the fumes from vaporising the drug rather than inhaling the smoke from burning. This is known as "chasing the white dragon" and long-term use can cause significant damage to the lungs.
- Insufflation: Insufflation refers to the snorting of the substance through the nose.
- Suppository: Crystal method can be inserted anally or vaginally, but this is not usually a popular method of taking the drug.
