Cephalexin or keflex is antibiotics called beta lactamase and are used to treat infections. It is possible that keflex has a rotten egg smell because it contains volatile sulfur compound.

From my experience yes it's normal. And your pee will smell like hard boiled eggs for a couple weeks as well!

I was just prescribed these also, they smell very bad. I thought there was something wrong with them, but I guess thats just how they are?

Mine started smelling that way after about 4 or 5 days. If I take them for more than a week, the odor makes me nauseous and does more harm than good. Does anybody have any suggestions? My doctor won't prescribe anything else. Only the same thing under different names....

I just started a 5 day course of Cephalexin, and they smell God-awful! It's like when you put tarnished silver jewelry into Tarn-X to clean it, same exact sulphury smell

I noticed that when I got put on the Cefalexin tablets that they smelt of egg and when I took them I started to get an eggy taste in the back of my throat which was very unpleasant as I do not like the smell or taste of egg, I'm not allergic but is there any other tablets to clear up the infection which don't cause these symtpoms???

Yes the sulphur - you are also killing your good gut bacteria - I've tried to counteract by eating a half tub of natural yoghurt and pickled ginger... Seems to have worked!
