Chloroform can be used as an anesthetic. It causes insensibility and there may be loss of reflexes along with reduced sensation and can also make someone lose consciousness. About 900 ppm (parts per million) usually make someone dizzy. Chloroform was used between the 1800s and 1900s as an anesthetic but it was observed that a little extra use of the chemical can have serious consequence and can be very harmful for the liver and kidneys.
