However if it's a loved one and you are already involved and it rears it's ugly head, exit as soon as it is safe to do so. And for heaven's sake, if you can't be strong to stand up to this type of individual or to put your foot down, then you need to move on and don't even consider going back or entertaining thoughts of second chances!!! Abuse is a very complex situation to deal with as there is no one formula across the board in dealing with this.
For me counselling is not necessary, mental toughness is more important to face abuse.
