It depends if the blood is being pumped away from the heart
or towards the heart. The heart is a big pump, the blood in the human body has to circulate all around the veins and tiny capilliaries, feeding oxygen to all the cells. Then when the blood is depleted of oxygen, make the circuit through the heart again to pick up more oxygen in the blood and make the circuit again. The heart has seperate chambers and valves, to keep the oxygenated blood and deoxygenated blood (in which case it is darker hence the name blue,) but is not really blue, apart. The heart does this job continuously for all the years of our life approx 80 years. An amazing thing the human heart, so we should look after it by eating healthy food so as not to strain our hearts, and stay away from smoking which robs the cells of oxygen. However people call those of royal lines within royal families blue blooded.
