The experts on Ebola state that, although it is possible for it to
become airborne, it is highly unlikely unless it mutates significantly.
Most developed countries have screening processes to stop this from
happening luckily.

Ebola is not caught easily; you
wouldn't get it from regular passing contact with someone you stand next
to in a supermarket queue or on the train. You would have to be in very
close contact to a person in order to become infected.

People
who contract Ebola have usually cared for a person who has the disease,
or have touched the dead body of a victim of Ebola.

Unfortunately,
in Africa the custom is to kiss the dead goodbye, which is rather a
nice thing usually. However, in this case it can, and usually is, fatal.
The dead are the most contagious.

Although enough is not known
about Ebola at this time to be sure, it is said that the disease can
survive on things like door handles for a few hours. For this reason, it
is always good practice to carry hand sanitiser and use it regularly.

Ebola
can not be passed on by rats or mosquitoes, and although dogs can carry
the disease (though they don't show symptoms) there are no records of
it being passed this way.

We are always scared by diseases we
don't know enough about. In the 1980s, when AIDS was first in the news,
everyone panicked. There was talk of getting it from toilet seats or by
kissing someone. Obviously now that we know the facts, we can take
preventative measures, and this will become the case when we know more
about Ebola.
