Over a course of a year, I've noticed that the muscles in my shoulders, the back of my neck and the middle of my back have become extremely hard, or maybe tense. I'm constantly feeling pain. Is something wrong?

Not besides your tense muscles and pain. You could see a chiropractor to help you if you have a problem with your alignment and that makes your muscles hurt, or in the past I've seen a physical therapist.

Tense muscles can be caused by a lot of things. Stress, lack of sleep, a worn out mattress, the wrong pillow, poor diet, or an illness. If your mattress is in good shape, you can try a new pillow and some relaxation exercises. If that doesn't help make a doctor's appointment.
