The D in DTP stands for Diphtheria. Diphtheria is a disease that attacks the human throat, nose, and mouth. It is a very highly contagious disease. However, with the DTP vaccine, Diphtheria is now extremely rare. If one has Diphtheria, it could cover the wind pipe and cause the victim a lot of problems with breathing.

The T in DTP stands for Tetanus. Tetanus is a disease that is generally found in rusty metal, dirt, and gravel. It usually enters the human body through the way of a cut or a puncture wound. The tetanus disease can cause the muscles to twitch suddenly and if it gets into the jaw, it can cause lock jaw to the victim. The tetanus disease can also be deadly because if it gets into the breathing muscles, it can cause the victim a lot of problems with breathing.

The P in DTP stands for Pertussis. Pertussis is better known as whooping cough. Pertussis causes mucus to build up in the lungs and makes the body more open to diseases such as pneumonia and bronchitis.
