Yes!!!!  It's the most painful of all, but I put salt on my finger and put it on my canker sore.  It burns like heck but it will numb it and you'll have no pain for probably five minutes.  (that's for me that is). After the salt don't touch it at all.  This is hard for me.  But I just put salt on it whenever it hurts and I noticed the sore closing up.  Oh and do lemon juice

Well, I still have a canker sore and it just keeps hurting just don't touch your mouth or try not to let what ever side of the cheek touch the canker sore. It seems like my sore jus hurts after I'm done with the salt water, by the way don't garle its only letting more becteria get into your mouth, just hold it in your mouth. Well, I'm jus usin the same method over and over again untill its gone. Use salt water every 30 or 1 hour. Any questions.

Yes, salt always.  Put a big pinch of it and leave it on the sore, try not to swallow, just leave it in the spot on the sore.  It numbs it and heals it.  It has always worked for me.

I do know in the old days they say to rinse your mouth with salt water when there is a sore there and it starts to heal them and alleviates pain. After all they still use that theory yet today with other things that happen in and around the mouth.

YES! Whenever I get canker sores, here is what I do, and it heals it within a day and a half. It hurts like hell to do, but here goes: Bite the top off of the canker sore. After the pain subsides, lick your finger and get some salt stuck to it. Then, hold it directly on the open wound as long as you can stand. It always helps me.

NO. Salt will just irritate the skin and could cause the canker sore to fester and worsen. If it is a simple canker sore the pain will subside within a few days, and should be healed in a week. To promote faster healing; you can use an antimicrobial mouthwash. If it is a large, extremely painful,or persistent canker sore, go see your dentist/doctor and ask about a corticosteroid ointment.
