Possibly urinary incontinence, but not always.

"Dropping" can mean the uterus has fallen forward towards the bladder or backwards towards the rectum.

Some women won't have any problems.  Some women will have some or many of these:

  • urinary incontinence
  • too-frequent need to urinate
  • fecal incontinence (in very severe cases)
  • hemorrhoids
  • discomfort during sex
  • discomfort during menstrual cycle
  • discomfort during pregnancy
  • miscarriage
  • uterine prolapse -- see below
In some cases, instead of dropping toward the bladder or rectum inside the body, the uterus will drop straight down into the vagina.  In the very worst cases, the cervix will actually protrude from the vagina.  (In rare cases, women who are runners get this due to a weak pelvic structure versus the constant impact as they run; like smacking a ketchup bottle on the bottom over and over again).  If the cervix (the entrance to the uterus) has gotten close enough to (or through) the opening to the vagina, it has to be taken care of immediately due to the risk of uterine infection.  The condition is called uterine prolapse and must be repaired, particularly if you hope to be pregnant someday.

I'm not a doctor, and this isn't medical advice; but I hope this helps you formulate questions when you see your gynecologist.
