A fracture that is caused by the compression that is the act of pressing together is called a compression fracture. Usually a compression fracture does not occur on a foot. There is no way that the bones of your foot can get compressed to a level of causing a fracture. Although a compression fracture can occur on the shin bones or the thighs it is highly impossible to have it on your foot.

Vertebral compression fractures are the most common. They are usually caused due to osteoporosis where your bone density is reduced. Usually osteoporosis happens in women due who go through menopause but it also happens in men who have had long term use of steroid medications. Trauma is another way in which it can occur on the vertebra. Compressions caused in car or other accidents are highly common in the UK.
