Bleach is a very effective way to control athlete's foot.. It is often used in the foot bath in communal shower areas as prevention. I usually pour full strength bleach on my feet and let it soak in for 10 minutes or so. Then I add hot water to the foot bath and soak my feet for a while. Sometimes I use pumice to rub away the softened callouses and dead skin. Or I use a salt scrub to remove the softened skin. Lastly, I rub in an antifungal cream mixed with foot cream or lotion. It really makes a difference in how my feet look within a day or two.

And bleach always does the trick for clearing up jock itch. When I am bothered by it, I wet a wash rag with hot water and wring out well. Then I pour about a quarter cup of bleach over the rag. I completely scrub my groin area. Again, I rub an antifungal cream mixed with a dab of lotion over the area. The jock itch will clear up shortly.

Over the years, I have found that I was repeatedly getting athlete's foot and jock itch, from a lot of sources, particularly the gym. I began a regular regimen of foot soaks and groin washes and have not been bothered by either athlete's's foot or jock itch for years.

NO NO NO,this would be very dangerous as bleach is a corrosive chemical, and prolonged contact with skin could cause lasting damage.Try going to your local pharmacy as there are lots of powders and lotions etc. To treat this no problem.Any other concerns with this consult your Doctor.Hope this helps.

Bleach will take the skin off your feet - you should go to the chemists and get an anti fungal treatment.

Athlete's foot is caused by a fungus which usually develops on the moist areas of foot like between toes and other parts of the foot. Bleach is unable to kill the fungus which causes athlete's foot. Sever cases of this infection require oral medicines to treat fungus. Only mild cases respond to topical medicines for fungus but not bleach.

I'll bet you that those who scream "NO" to bleach have never tried it.  I'm fairly sensitive to most things and frankly lived with toenail fungus for 4 years.  I tried vinegar, salt, listerine, baking soda, tea tree oil, lavender and even YLOils Thieves...SCRAPED TOENAILS--none of it cured the infection.  Bleach baths on the other hand are curing it --slowly--every other day --I prepare a foot bath in my sink, with about 1/2 cup of bleach and I use a q-tip and place the bleach straight on my toes for 30 seconds to 1 minute --then I put BOTH my  feet in the soak for 5-10 minutes.

After rinsing them and drying them, I use yogurt and a powdered probiotic mix and put it all over my feet and let it air dry (doesn't take long).  Also, a few times a week, I use a heel file and scrub the dead skin from my heel prior to the soak. This is war people, there will be losses ---shoes must either be ultraviolet heat or tossed.  Personally, mine are going in the trash. If you continue to read online the bleach method has helped many.  That said use common sense and don't leave your feet in full bleach for more than 1 minute or you may very well experience chemical burns!

I agree with you. I have a book from the early 1900s and bleach has been used for helping soak feet and legs for years. Only the modern "give me a patent drug" generation sometimes doesn't get it! I have had cellulitis and the Doctor precscribed antibiotics were very slow at killing the infection. I soak my leg/foot in 1-1/2 cups bleach in very hot (standable) water for about 10 minutes and by the next day I can see swelling go away that the antibiotics hadn't been able to do anything about. I have had NO ADVERSE EFFECTS either. A little redness afterward but it is worth it. Skin absorbs whatever is left on the skin and bleach DOES KILL BACTERIA.
