The way I see it, a low carb diet is a problem solving diet.
It's a type of diet most associated with losing weight.
I'd recommend that you can use it to get to where you are going, and then balance your diet out again.
If you stayed on a purely low carb regime, weight would continue to be lost and ultimately you could lose too much.
Is a low carb diet safe? The question of whether a low carb diet is safe or not is something I've asked myself before.
I often cut out carbs when I feel like I need to lose weight but, until recently, I hadn't fully considered the implications.
The main criticism I have come across is the following:
When you get where you need to be you can balance the regimen with a few more carbs. Low carb eating takes a major stress off of the pancreas.
It lowered my blood pressure, heart rate and got cholesterol numbers in good shape and my skin was awesome. I had fewer blemishes/pimples and more muscle tone.
I was also less dry and itchy in my private areas.
So overall, the answer is a resounding yes!
For the time I was on it, low carb eating was a "good" diet. I even lost 50 pounds!

The main criticism I have come across is the following:
- It can leave you feeling tired or fatigued
- A lot of the weight dropped can be attributed to water loss
- Some people argue that a low carb diet doesn't give the body enough nutrients
- The low carb way is good for you in that you can get the deadly weight off quicker and still feel satisfied/full on the prescribed foods.
- I really like it because it doesn't involve being on a "program diet" or having to pay to be a part of an org/club.
- You also don't need to buy special groceries or take chemicals/hormones.
