Aspirin is used to treat pain and inflammation and to reduce fever. Aspirin also has anti-clotting properties, that is why effective in coronary artery disease to prevent heart attack and stroke in carotid artery disease. Aspirin does not induce periods. It is wrong belief. Long term use of aspirin can cause gastrointestinal bleeding.
