Yes, there is a difference.  Conception is the moment when the spermatozoa penetrates the membrane of the ovum, and their DNA combines.  This can happen at any point along the journey of the ovum from the ovary end of the fallopian tube to the womb.  Implantation is when this new little cell/group of cells buries itself in the lining of the womb ready to form an embryo.

Or in laymans terms... :-)
Conception is when the sperm meets the egg and implantation is when the furtilized egg attaches to the uterus.
