OK, first of all, most people underestimate just how much fat they have to lose before they see a 6 pack.

Often times when you think you need to lose 20 pounds, it ends up being 30...or more.

Either way, I can tell you this....abs are made in the kitchen, not the gym.

You can make your abs larger through weighted training so that they are more apparent at higher levels of bodyfat, however in order for them to show, you essentially need to get rid of that fat that is covering them.

Focus on losing weight primarily...You need to maintain a caloric deficit such that you lose 1-2 pounds/week.  As a guy, you shouldn't drop your calories too much lower than 1,500...however there are some 'crash diets' which have you at 1,000/day for short periods of time.

If I were you, I would couple a low calorie diet with 45 min - 1hour of cardio each day.  1 hour of cardio will burn 500 calories and if you do that for 7 days, that is a total of 3,500 calories burned which is the amount you need to burn to lose 1 pound.

As far as diet, focus on eating foods that are filling but low in calories...Veggies, fruits and lean meats for the most part.

More info on all this here.

From what I have researched and seen online, the best way to lose weight is to eat right and exercise. It has worked for many to find a diet plan and exercise program. The combination should lead to the weight loss success you are looking for. There are other alternatives and products available as well.
