In a recent study conducted, it showed that after mumps disease and mumps orchitis (swelling of the testes), there was a very rare chance of being infertile. It is a common childhood disease. Though, signs of being sub-fertile were seen, no sign of infertility was visible. It has also been reported that many men have almost become infertile after bilateral mumps orchitis. Orchitis is one of the symptoms of mumps which creates an acute pain in the testes and swells them. Some of the other symptoms of suffering from mumps are fever, headache, and a sore throat. After mumps are cured, a life long immunity is obtained from it. Mumps can also be prevented by vaccination. Mumps can also cause infection of other organs, meningitis and sterility in men.
