The Earliest Symptoms of Pregnancy

Early symptoms of pregnancy are usually what gives it away that you are pregnant. Like 60% of women second-guess that they are pregnant BEFORE taking a test.

Obviously the first warning sign is that you have missed your period. But you can't count on just that as an early sign of pregnancy, because many women have irregular periods anyway - and anything from stress to poor diet could prevent you from having a period. It does not on it's own mean you are pregnant.

That's why you need to know about the other common early pregnancy symptoms... The ones you can actually FEEL.

Pregnancy Symptoms You Need to Know About

very early pregnancy signs

It only takes a few days after the fetus is conceived, for your first true sign of pregnancy to start: Cramping
and  spotting.

This spotting especially, is called implantation bleeding - and is not a period, but a sign that you are pregnant.

At exactly the same time implantation bleeding happens, you will probably feel that your breasts are become more sensitive or sore.

Another sign that hits you at this time is feeling drained or tired all the time. This is due to changes in progesterone levels - and your body beginning to go into "preparation mode" as I like to call it.

Morning sickness is part of that, and is a side-effect of changes in estrogen levels that make your stomach feel weird.

Although they call it morning sickness, it can happen any time of the day!

Dizziness and even fainting can occur at this stage too/

When will you start to feel pregnant?

Overall, I would say the physical changes start happening about 1 week after you become pregnant.

Here's a quick timeline of what to expect:

  • 6 - 12 days: Implantation bleeding and painful cramps (like a bad period)
  • 7 - 14 days: Changes in your breasts, they start feeling tender and tingly.
Low energy levels and morning sickness happen at this time too.

Not every pregnancy is the same, and some women do not feel all of these symptoms, so the most accurate way to know for sure is always to take a pregnancy test.
