I am 12 years old, five foot three and I weigh 80 pounds. I am not anorexic or bulimic. I eat a lot when I am hungry but nothing happens. My friends say my wrists are very tiny and I am way too skinny. You can see my ribs and spine. They think this is because I take ballet and am very active and have a fast metabolism . Any advice?
Based on your height and weight, your BMI (body mass index) is only 14.6! A normal person's BMI is 18.5-24.9, so you are very, very, very skinny. I would recommend talking to your parents and/or doctor about your weight because it could put you at risk. You may feel like your eating enough, but at a young age, your metabolism is much faster and you need to get more food and nutrients to grow properly.
I'm 14, 5'2" and only 80 pounds or so, even though I eat a LOT of fat. I don't really mind though, as long as I'm healthy :). I'm also male, which makes it even odder, but I don't really care - if anyone didn't like me based on my weight, then they wouldn't be worth knowing anyway
Really I eat plenty - a fast metabolism is responsible for it. I don't think the original poster should worry too much - my dad was the same way and he is now normal (though still a bit thin - not getting fat when you get older is a nice bonus actually :D) and my doctor didn't seem too concerned. BMI isn't relevant to adolescents.
I am 13 5"4 and I am 104 lbs I am not sure if I am 2 skinny or just right
I'm 13 to and 5'3 and weigh 80 pounds too. Everyone tells me I'm way too skinny and my wrists are raely thin! I eat A LOT when I'm hungry but I don't seem to be gaining weight.
I'm 12 and 5'1 and I way 85 pounds and my friends critsize me.. A lot. It makes me feel so alone. But I'm trying to gain weight and you try to. I'm srry this is all I have to offer: Eat a lot of calories I guess.
