If we're talking about the ideal weight for a thirteen year old female who is not a professional athlete then her optimal height should also be around 5' 2" (62") (Normal height can range from 4'11 1/4" 5' 5 3/4") and her optimal weight should be around 102 pounds (but a range from 82 pound to 137 pounds is common). Averages heights differ from country to country and so do the corresponding weights and I have used US averages here. As you can see people in the early stages of puberty fluctuate widely in size and shape as hormones kick in at different times. As long as the subject is happy and not obviously under-nourished or obese then things will be fine.
No! Shes not over weigh! She is just at that age where she is getting taller and getting ready to thin out. Its part of growing. I'm 13 too and I weigh 125. But weigh doesn't matter! Its how you feel. I do sports and I dance and I love the way I feel! When your at 13 you are changing. Also mussel weighs more than fat. I have people that go to my school that say," oh, she looks fat!" but they only say that to make them feel better. So when you walk by someone who says,," oh, she looks fat!" you could walk by and don't lessen to them. Or you could walk up to them and say," that is plain rude! You have no right to say that! I'm perfectly healthy the way I am!" thats what I say and they back off.
I know what it's like to feel fat and...it's not fun last month I weighed 132 or soo and now I'm down to 120 (and still feel fat) and want to lose 5 more pounds or a few more I'm 13 so I'm sure I might understand what's going through her head...a bit. The best thing you can do is support her decision and don't pressure her to much into either direction, over all it's her choice and us budding teens like to have as much control as we can in our own lives (whenever someone tells me I need to stop losing weight it just makes me depressed and even more determined to keep going) if she's having eating problems, like you think she's going bulimic or anorexic that's when you should intervene because it will just make a person have more issues with their weight when they stop and it's plain nasty and unhealthy. The best thing she could do is tone up by jogging or possibly swimming that way she doesn't feel fat (working out just makes people feel better about themselves in the long run) just remember overall support her decisions or she'll grow to resent you and feel as if you're against her, but don't let it get to her so much that she get's deppressed BUT THE MAIN POINT IS FOR A THIRTEEN YEAR OLD SHE'S A HEALTHY WAIT BECAUSE IF SHE'S SHORTER SHE STILL HAS TO GROW AND 117 IS HEALTHY FOR HER AGE did I mention I can be a hypocrite?

Well, I am 13 and weigh 126 pounds and I am 5"2. If you are 13 and 129 pounds, that does not mean you are obese. I quess I am trying to loose a little bit of weight, but that is only because I want to be in better shape then I am now. You are perfectly fine if you way 126 pounds as a 13 year old because you are still growing.

Remember that muscle weighs more than fat. Now if she actually is huge in size, that may be a problem. Usually, a girl should be a round 100-125. I don't think she is over weight. Nothing depends on the height of a person. If that was the case, then lots of people would be over weight because lots of people are tall. If you are still un sure, take her to get a check up and have a professional doctor take a look at her.

How sad that a barely into teen is thinking that about herself. That's early. Her weight would depend on so much. Family, body build, height, exercise, diet. If she is concerned I would sit with her with a nutritional book in front of us and work out a plan. More than anything right now, she needs to have someone to tell her that weight does not define a person, and if she is concerned, let it be for her health and not her beauty.At that age we go through so many, many changes leaving childhood and preparing for adulthood and those hormonal changes are not fun. Just keep reminding her of her spirit, how she treats others, and how she choose to accept neg or positive things others say to her. What better time than now to tell her that she is more than her size, she is more than her looks. I hope things go well with you both.
I'm 5 4 in sports and weigh 127. I'm a 13 year old girl so trust me if shes over 5 ft shes fine. But if she plays sports you should know muscle weighs more then fat and if she has a bigger butt or chest that adds on 2.

It depends on how tall she is and thats about the right weight for teenage girls. Also just tell her to eat fruits and vegetable's. Keep this in mind its not a diet its a lifestyle choice good luck just eat healthy!!!

I myself weigh 147 pounds but what matters is that you are doing excercices and eating well or if you weigh more you could have muscle's because those and your butt weigh some more than your usual weight:D

Well I'm 13 years old I weigh 167 pounds. I am really not happy about it..and I am VERY self cautious..I hate the way I look..I hate the way I feel about my self..I sometimes get made fun of because of my weight..and usually I don't mind it. I am in a lot of sports and I am always out side messing around with friends and having fun..never ever inside sitting down and eating like a lot of teens. I just really want to know how to lose my weight..my school nurse says I have some kind of ''mark'' that means I might get/have diabetes..its a scary thing. I just need answers before its too late. What amazes me is how many replies there are to this topic. It shows how much it matters and how important it is to teenagers. I am 14 and 5 and a half ft and there is nothing wrong with me, I have a small frame. But there could be some other girl who is 92 pounds and 14 years old and is the same height and has a real weight issue. I would say that if your girl is active she is doing just fine. Remember that muscle weighs more than fat (I learnt that the hard way after 11 years of gymnastics and still going!) and talk to her about self esteem and feeling good and how it doesnt matter that much. Help her feel good about herself.
I use to weigh 129lb but I stop eating a lot .then the week I weighed 122 lbs . (normal weigh ill say um... 100-135 lb for girls) you can still eat brastfast ,lunch ,dinner and supper but eat little bit.
