Can You Get Pregnant Right Before Your Period Starts?

Yes, it is possible. Although the "average" female has a 28 day cycle and is supposed to ovulate 14 days into that cycle, no female is the same and none of us are truly average. A number of factors can cause you to ovulate later in your cycle including stress and illness and as long as you ovulate you can become pregnant. Also, your egg is fertilized while in the fallopian tube and slowly travels through your tube until it gets to your uterus and implants. It is believed that it takes anywhere from 6 to 12 days for this to happen and you are not actually pregnant until implantation occurs. Also, it is not until after implantation that you will start to produce the hCG hormone and, if the hormone levels are not high enough, you body will not know that it's pregnant and still shed the lining of your uterus (you will still have a period that month). So lets do the math...if you had sex exactly 3 days before your period and you had a short period (lets say 4 days) then you still have a 5 day window for implantation which means the possibility for pregnancy is there (how probable pregnancy is is still up for debate). This equation only works if you ovulated the same day you had sex and your egg actually took the entire 12 days to implant; you may have not have ovulated during this time (meaning you would not be pregnant) or you may have ovulated 1-2 days later which gives you a greater window for implantation.

I had unprotected sex about 4 days before my period started. I've never had a regular cycle. I thought it was suppose to start 2 days later, and instead, it did 4. The only thing is, it's a lot lighter than normal. And I don't have my normal cramping. Normally I get harsh cramping that's puts me down. This time it's just a weird feeling in my lower abdomen (possibly pelvic area) and I have gotten sick. I don't have a temp or anything. Just the feeling like I'm going to throw up, and sometimes do. I also started getting a tingling sensation in my breast. I would take a test, but it hasn't been long enough yet. Could I be pregnant???  *curious*

I had protected sex a few days before my period. Then I had my period and now, one month later, I'm several days late for my period. Should I be worried or am I just over stressing?

No, that is not true. If you ask your OB-GYN you will find out that there is one MOST FERTILE day, but that is definitely not the only day out of the month that you can get pregnant. As with your menstrual cycle, ovulation can be different from month to month for some women. It is harder to tell with ovulation than with a menstrual cycle though. Anytime you have unprotected sex there is the possibility of pregnancy,.

There is only one day when the woman ovulates  that is the 14  after the first day of your period.  For example if your period starts on the 1st of the month, then most likely you will ovulate on the 14.  But because sperms could  stay alive up to 5 days, if you have sex  on the 9th or 10th you have a big chance of getting pregnant.  After ovulation you don't get pregnant.  You could feel when you are ovulating.  Pay close attention on that 14th day.  You will feel a mild pain at either of your ovaries.  One month it could be the right side and the next month the left side.

WRONG if all women ovulated on the correct day EVERY month then there would never be fertility issues for ANYONE. 14 is a general guideline and is not the way EVERYONE works. Myself have a 37 day cycle and I ovulate whenever the hell my body feels like I got pregnant 3 years ago by having sex the day before my period, got my period and then implanted after so please don't make a statement saying ALL women's cycles are the same, that's just absurd.

I had unprotected sex a week before my period, and got my period normal for 4 or 5 days, then it was brown spotting for two days. Now 4 weeks later, I only got it for a day or two, and its been brown spotting since. I've had dizziness, and pee a little more frequently. I also get nausea sometimes, but that's normal for me. I've been getting headaches, and once in a while I come across a smell that is overly strong and I can't stand it. Could I be pregnant or just dealing with stress?

You can get pregnant ANY TIME. It's best to be safe and make the guy use a condom and you birth control. I highly reccomment Implanon.

You can get pregnant right after your periods. Some women have periods throughout their pregnancy as every pregnancy is unique. The best way to check your pregnancy is to take a home pregnancy test or blood pregnancy test.

It's not considered a period and unless it is accompanied by cramping then it is normal unless heavy.

If you do not have intercourse but are exposed to precum (skin to skin), and ejaculation (through his underwear while you are bare) is it possible to become pregnant? Also, this occurred about 4 days before my period, is it possible to become pregnant from this, have your period for the full week, but still be pregnant? I took a pregnancy test and it came out negative, but it is also too soon to know I suppose it could be a misread.

No. Studies show that 40% of women studied ovulated twice in their cycle. If you think about it that's kind of a lot.
