Depends on the type of hysterectomy you have...there are two ways to go about it and depending on your medical situation the doctor will decide which option will give optimal results.  If you have an abdominal hysterectomy then they will cut the multiple layers of tranversing stomach muscles.  If you have a vaginal hysterectomy its far less invasive and often gives a shorter recovery and does not cut the stomach muscles (apart from a very small incision for the laproscopic device)....but as mentioned different medical conditions will point to one option over the other and keloid scarring is also an important consideration for an abdominal hysterectomy.
