If you are a woman who has a normal and regular period and suddenly experience an end to your menstrual cycle after one day, there are a number of reasons why this has happened. One of the main reasons for this is stress and anxiety. An undue level of stress can have a profound effect on a woman's period, but it is not the only factor that could result in this.

One thing that could have this effect is the prolonged use of birth control pills. Birth control pills most often aid in making periods consistent and regular, but this is not true for all women. If you are not stressed and are taking birth control pills, it may be time to look for a new brand of pills.

If you have recently started a new diet, that could very well be a factor in your period ending prematurely. The types of food that you eat can have a profound effect on your body in the long and short-term. You are probably OK if this happens once after starting a new diet. If it happens a second time you may want to visit your doctor and have them examine you.

Another factor that can cause this effect is excessive exercise. If you are an avid runner, you may want to cut back on your runs and jogging while you are experiencing your cycle. A change of environment and sheer excitement can also cause changes in your cycle so be aware of the signals your body is giving you while on vacation or at a sporting event.

In most cases, a period that ends after one day is not a cause for concern for the vast majority of women and there are a number of natural explanations for this. If it persists however; it may be best to schedule an appointment with your doctor just to be on the safe side.
