I used to have this problem. I'm sure there are a variety of conditions. In my case it was (believe it or not) my neck. Do you have some type of ortho pillow you can use? See if that helps. If it graduates to pain you may need to be seen at a pain management center. Begin with your Primary doctor. Mine was cured after what is called a trigger injection. Your situation may be different.
