Egg is produced in small follicle contained in ovaries. Some of these follicles start to grow After menstrual periods under the influence of hormones. Out of many follicles, one reaches maximum size and bursts releasing egg. So, development of egg starts right immediately after the end of periods and is completed almost at the mid of the cycle at the time of ovulation.
