I Have Chunky Pinkish Vaginal Discharge, What Does This Mean?

If you have chunky pinkish vaginal discharge, this could have one of several causes. The first thing to note is that this colouration is usually attributed to a tiny amount of blood in the vaginal discharge. Vaginal fluid is secreted by the vagina and cervix and flows out of the body as a way of cleaning the inner tissue of old cells and so forth, and keeping things inside healthy and balanced. The consistency of this fluid changes due to the monthly cycle. Sometimes just before and at the tail end of your menstrual period, there will be just a trace of blood in the discharge, which will often appear thicker than normal. This is quite natural. Sometimes, however, there may be what is known as 'spotting' or 'breakthrough bleeding' - very light bleeding in between  periods which should be watched as there could be a variety of causes for this, the contraceptive pill or similar hormonal treatments notwithstanding. Other times blood can be visible in the discharge when a period is nowhere in sight is just after a cervical smear or similar test. The instrument collecting the 'smear' can cause a small amount of blood letting but this will normally heal and clear up in a couple of days. If, however, your case is none of the above it could be the sign of implantation bleeding - as in a happy event for nine months later. There are also various infections and irritations that can cause similar conditions when the tissue is inflamed and Ph balance of the vaginal fluid is upset. In any case, this should be investigated by a doctor, especially if symptoms persist, because until then it would be impossible to say exactly why your discharge is thick or 'chunky' and so coloured.

If it's 4 days before your period, then discharge and spotting should not be considered an accurate indicator of pregnancy. Are you on birth control? Have you had unprotected sex while you were ovulating (which would have been about 10-12 days ago according to your "4 days to next period")? If you said no to the first, and yes to the second question, then I would go get a pregnancy test right now. Take it tomorrow first thing when you wake up. The very first pee you take will have the most concentrated amount of hormone that the test is trying to measure (Hcg). Look for a test that advertises "can detect pregnancy up to 5 days before first missed period." I think EPT is one of those brands. Just read the box. Good luck.

Yes and we can all understand that answer can't we.. The reason your discharge is pink is because it contains a small amount of blood. This is quite common after a smear test, and should clear up after a day or so. If it doesn't go back to the doctor

Orange isn't a natural color for a cycle, you need to be seen by your doctor to find out what is going on. Hope this helps.

When I took the plan B pill, my first period was light and spotting, but I wasn't pregnant. The pill tends to make periods unpredictable for the month that you took it, and if you're not pregnant you should have a normal period later. As for the tender breasts, my breasts get tender a while before having my period as well, so that may just be a sign that you are having your period. women.emedtv.com      This web site states some of the side effects of the plan B pill. Hope this helps.

I'm not sure, but would really like to know! I have been spotting an orangish color and my breasts have been really tender. I just had my last period around May 28 or so, and right after, ended up having to use a Plan B pill because I was being reckless.. The directions on the Plan B pill say that you should start your period within 7 days of taking it, but all I have had is spotting.. It also says that if you don't start your period, you might be pregnant. Although I thought that maybe my period hasn't started because my body doesnt produce menstrual blood fast enough? I have no clue? Can anyone help me with this?

But I had the discharge before the test? The doctor thinks its just vagina's or something and he told me not to worry. And wrote me another script for the antibiotics I have to get them tomorrow but he said if it doesn't clear by Friday to come back ...but I keep reading stuff about implantation bleeding and its scaring me! So I can't relax until I know its somewhat normal

I have this too! It just started a few days ago. I just got off my period but I haven't had a smear test recently. I'm kind off eeked out too.

Firstly, the pap smear test does not tell about any infection. It is a screening test to find out changes in vagina and cervix caused by HPV. The HPV is detected by HSV gG 1 or 2. Secondly Do not use narrow spectrum anti fungals like monist. Use broad spectrum anti fungals giving coverage to DYM system and gram positive bacteria. This is imidazole derivative either local or oral. If the infection is only the bacterial then use antibiotics.
