There are a LOT of wive's tales when it comes to inducing labor, but what it really comes down to is uterine contractions. Besides menstration or labor inducing drugs the only other things that can make the uterus contract is sexual activity and exercise. Things like spicy foods or oils have no scientific evidence to consistently back up their claim to induce labor.
