I just had my period 6 days ago .. I started spotting today and I feel as if I'm gonna start my period again. That's never happened to me before. I had unprotected sex with my boyfriend before, during and after my period, could I be pregnant?

You can buy a pregnancy test to use at home from a supermarket or pharmacy. Try Walmart, it's not expensive. You should use protection.

Hi, Ricky is right - if you are worried about the fact that you are spotting after you've had unprotected sex with your boyfriend, you should take a pregnancy test. But I'll try to shed some light on the matter.

You can get pregnant on your period

Yes it's unlikely, but you can get pregnant when you're on your period, and just before, and just after. So you should use protection at every stage in your cycle.

Spotting after unprotected sex can indicate pregnancy

The spotting that you're describing could be implantation bleeding, which happens a few days after the egg is fertilized by the sperm. Fertilization can happen up to 7 days after unprotected sex. This is another reason why you should see your doctor or buy a home pregnancy test.

Spotting after sex can indicate other things

If you've just had your period and now you are spotting, you could have an infection such as thrush or an STI. There I explain how spotting can be infection, injury or cervical problems. It may help you to figure out why you are spotting after you had your period 6 days ago.

I want to stress though, any abnormal bleeding that is worrying you should be reported to a doctor. Good luck!
