Having two periods in a single month would usually be considered irregular. There are a number of reasons why this may occur, and can often be attributed to common problems such as stress.
It's also worth considering when you had the first of the two periods. It could be a case of you experiencing one period at the very beginning of the month, followed by another at the very end.Here are a few more reasons why you might experience irregular periods:

- Alcohol - drinking too much alcohol places a strain on the liver, which is also required in metabolism of estrogen.
- Menopause - a women in her 40s and above may experience irregular periods throughout the onset of menopause.
- Medication - your periods may be affected by any medication you're currently taking.
