Abrupt or sudden discontinuation in taking fluoxetine which is a kind of serotonin reuptake inhibitor or SSRI may result in treatment interruption or discontinuation symptoms. These withdrawal symptoms or discontinuation effects may include dizziness, nausea, headache, fatigue, vertigo or light headedness, insomnia, chills, abdominal cramps, anxiety, increased dreaming and agitation. It is necessary to talk and consult with your physician before ceasing to administer these sorts of drugs. It is best that there is a gradual reduction in the dosage rather than a total cessation. This usually but does not necessarily involve reductions of ten percent at a time. Fluoxetine is primarily used to treat obsessive compulsive disorders, bulimia, panic disorders and depression. It is generally recommended to take a dose when one has forgotten to take a prescribed one at its time, but to avoid taking it if the time of the next dosage has arrived.
Hi all I'm not sure if this is of any help but, I have been on fluoxetine for some time now and I must admit that although it seems to make the days fly by and sometimes makes you feel your not all there, it helps with so much that I seem to struggle with such as not sleeping and getting up in the mornings.
I do find that if I miss a day though the following day I struggle, I have been taking 20mg per day for a while now and sometimes when I start to feel down or feel generally rubbish I will take 40-60mg per day to try and kick myself out of it but I do find that when you play with the dosage it can make you feel really really strange, I personally had a couple of days without it and the anxiety kicked in, I was nautious ect... Kept thinking people were following me, I was forgetting why I was doing certain things ect...
I rely on the stuff for help at the moment and I'm not sure how much of it is down to the mental side of things (I'm happy to admit there is probably a lot of this in my head) But I think they are great and I would always recomend coming of them slowly so as not to feel like I have been. Thank you for your time.
