The best way to build up chest muscle would be joining a good gym and training under an equally good instructor who could guide one in the nuances of body building and chest muscles in particular. Proper diet and fluid intake are essential components of an effective muscle building program.

Exercises like push-ups or training with weights and doing bench press with increasingly heavy weights under supervision would certainly help. Ideally doing bench press by keeping the bench inclined at an angle of 30 degrees and then doing 3 to 4 sets of 8 to 12 reps would be advisable breathing is an important factor while doing bench press.

Dips similar to push ups, with the feet elevated with the help of chairs and the arms resting on boxes at a slightly lower level are another exercise guaranteed to build chest muscles. Best results can be obtained if one starts training slowly and then gradually builds momentum. One would be better off if one did stretching exercises before and after any weight sessions and then taking a break of at least 24 hours for optimum performance.

The best way to build up your chest and tone it well is doing butterflies with 10 pound weights. Then moving up to 20 pound weights. This works the entire pectoral muscle and builds it fast. I would start by doing about 7 or 8 sets of 10 a night. Nd be sure to stretch, so you do not pull anything. Stretching can improve your results by 25 to 30 percent.

One of the best ways to build up your chest is to do incline barbell presses, unlike the flat bench, these build up the upper chest, which a lot of bodybuilders need work on.
Despite the popular belief that you need to lift heavy weights for low reps to build muscle, you would be better off doing the 4x12 system, this is where you do four sets of twelve reps per set, but you only rest thirty seconds or less between sets.

For a final pump, you could try doing a set of as many push-ups you can do.
Lastly, flex you chest hard when you are finished.

As an alternate to to incline presses you can do chest dips, believe it or not, back in the day, before the flat bench, dips and overhead presses were two mainstays for ANYONE looking to build not only a big chest, but a bigger and stronger upper body as well.
