One of the tendons at the back of the knee can be called as hamstring muscle. It is one of the most common and usual injury of thigh. Tenderness, ache, inflammation or swelling, warmness and redness over the hamstring muscle at the back of the thigh are some of the symptoms of hamstring strain. After exhausting and tiring activities the pain becomes intolerable. You can get rid of it by doing some exercises or by taking some precautionary measurements. Let me tell you few small exercises.
First, put as much weight or burden on the leg as the pain allows. If necessary, use elbow crutches (A wooden or metal staff that fits under the armpit and reaches to the ground; used by disabled person while walking) for the first few days after injury. On one occasion if the leg does not hurt any more in the course of your daily life actions, you can become more active; for example, by going cycling. This will serve to stimulate the circulation in the thigh muscles and will result in helping in healing process. You can go back to your sports or games as soon as these exercises make you to walk easily.
