I have 6 children and worked for an OB/GYN. It was always advised to wait 6 weeks after a vaginal birth in order for your body to heal and for you to not experience pain or discomfort.
There are other ways to have sex besides vaginally which might be uncomfortable right after giving birth.

Well, You can have the intercourse at once after having baby. But it is recommended for medical reasons to wait until your post birth bleeding stops. But you can have intercourse if you want to do so. You just need to maintain all the care in doing so.
Well you are suppose to wait 6wks but most people don't ...just when it feels right to you then do it .
