Vaginal odors are not uncommon at all, if you're a woman it's something that is always with you. If you happen to notice a metallic smell, it is highly likely that you have an infection and need a doctor's help to treat it.

One of the most common types of infections in the vaginal tract for women are yeast infections. A yeast infection, also known as thrush is a fungal infection that can range from superficial to life-threatening. The symptoms of a yeast infection include severe itching and burning, irritation, and white discharge from the vaginal area. A yeast infection can also occur in males, although it is much less common. Symptoms for a male include a localized infection on the penis that causes discomfort and it may also have discharge.

Some of the causes of a yeast infection in women can be related to detergents or douches. Pregnancy and the use of oral contraceptives are also cited as risk factors as is participating in vaginal sex after anal sex and not cleaning in between those activities is also one of the causes. Wearing wet swimwear for a number of hours has also been known to cause yeast infections.

The diagnosis of a yeast infection can only be done by a doctor or nurse. It is diagnosed with either a microscopic examination or by culture. Once it has been diagnosed, treatment can be done fairly effectively with antibiotics unless it has gotten to an advanced stage. It can also be treated with anti-fungal drugs is some cases.

A strange smell from the vaginal area can mean an infection of some sort and should be taken seriously. A trip to he doctor can help to keep you healthy for a long life, as this type of infection in women can be a serious threat to your health.

Always a good idea to have a check-up.
Often, though, people have a metal smell or taste in their bodies (could be your mouth, vagina, urine, semen from men) due to heavy metal build-up from a lifetime of drinking municipal water, dental work, using things containing lead, certain foods etc. And yes, using IUD's.
After a check-up, if everything is alright, try taking an organic chlorophyll supplement (you can get it as tincture or the liquid "juice") for several weeks and see if this helps and afterwards, continue to eat plenty of green foods and perhaps even supplement with cysteine (an amino acid which heavy metals deplete from the body).
Good luck!

I had this issue with the metallic smell and so I went to my gyne. She said I had bacterial vaginitis, otherwise known as vaginosis. I used a topical antibiotic and the smell is gone. Sometimes you just need to make a trip to the gyne and they will tell you exactly what the problem is, and cure it.

Guys can have some nasty odors down there too. But there is a good creme available called Man1 Man Oil that contains several antibacterial vitamins and nutrients that keep the area extra clean and fresh. It is also great for overall penis health, so definitely check it out. Cheers.

if you were taking enough iron to be able to smell it, then it would be causing you serious harm - the condition Hemochromatosis.

I can't answer your question I am afraid, but neither can Danny books. Daily vitamin tablets are just that - daily, the amount required to supplement a diet. I would suggest you see a GP.

A chastity belt -- or an infection. Any unusual odor that emits from the vagina is cause for a check by your ob/gyn. Many pelvic inflammatory diseases have few (if any) symptoms so discharge and/or smells out of the ordinary should get your full attention. They will certainly get the attention of your partner!!!
