I suffer from gerd myself.I'm in the process of my landlord fixing my mold problem,because I didnt start having problems until the mold started.Try having the person spend some time away from the mold,I noticed when I went away on vacation my symptoms got better,and as soon as I got back they got worse again.Its harder to deal with if you I have a hiatal hernia which is a problem with your diaphram obstructing your stomach muscle.good luck
