It depends upon duration of pregnancy when miscarriage took place and you have not given complete details in your question. Many ladies can have miscarriage and they don't know that they were pregnant because miscarriage in these women occurs at the time of their due date of periods. In this case, their next periods come on their schedule date. If miscarriage take place after 12 weeks of pregnancy then D and C is necessary to start periods. Otherwise, periods will not start. Early miscarriages don't require D and C and their periods are expected after 4 weeks.
