Trichomonas are protozoan and cause Trichomoniasis which is sexually transmitted disease. Site of infection in men is urethra while internal genitalia in females. This pathogen is transmitted through sex only and can not be transmitted from infected mother to unborn child. However, Trichomonas and other bacterial vaginosis can cause premature deliveries and low birth weight.
