basically resides in our digestive system and enters through mouth. Doctors
recommend Diflucan and Nystatin to treat candida. But don't use them without
prescription.
Hello,
It is overgrowth of a yeast in the intestines, that normally exists there naturally in lesser safer amounts.
Unfortunately a standard treatment used by doctors for
intestinal candidiasis is to prescribe an antifungal antibiotic, which is
unlikely to permanently clear a candida-overgrowth. An antifungal antibiotic is
unlikely to cure a tendency to overgrow yeast because some candida being always
normally present, the candida is likely to not only re-grow, but a new
candida-overgrowth is then also likely.
An overgrowth condition can re-occur, because the circumstances
which cause this are not treated by an anti-fungal.
These circumstances are that where the normal bowel flora
has been significantly reduced (usually by over use of antibiotics), overgrowth
of candida can occur. When an antifungal antibiotic is taken, in circumstances
where the normal bowl flora has been compromised, the candida can return and
can also again quickly become an overgrowth.
Please consider consulting a "dietary therapist",
who are practitioners of nutritional medicine.
(Distinguish from "dieticians" who are not
normally trained in treating candidiasis.)
The standard alternative treatment for candidiasis is a
strict diet designed to restrict intake of sugar because sugar feeds the
candida yeast, while at the same time to also take probiotics (friendly
bacteria) to restore the normal protective bowel flora in the intestines.
Although the probiotics are unlikely to stay inside you,
while they pass through they help to:
Restrict candida re-growth,
and
encourage your own natural bowel flora to re-grow so it then
protects you.
When choosing to use the alternative anti-candida dietary
method of treatment, refrain from having any form of yogurt in the diet. The
probiotics you would need to take need to be in supplement form (because this
does not contain any form of sugar). Yogurt contains lactase which is a form of
sugar, and any form of sugar has be restricted as much as possible, because
sugar encourages candida yeast growth!
Warning:
If the probiotic product label instructions say to take it
with food, please consider the following: The probiotic needs to avoid being
destroyed by stomach acid to viably reach the intestines where it needs to do
its work. You can therefore consider if you may prefer to take this product on
an empty stomach, but if you have any queries about this please consider
consulting a practitioner of nutritional medicine.
To take on an empty stomach, the best time may be upon
getting up in the morning, but you also then need to leave one hour before
having anything, although water is fine.
(Always wash your hands using soap, before handling anything
that you are going to take.)
I hope this helps.
Regards,
Robert.
