Tetracycline will not treat pain. It will treat infection within 7-10 days. For pain, you can take non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.

The tetracycline is an antibiotic that is treating the infection, not the pain.
If you need to have treatment on that tooth then make sure to get it done otherwise the abscess will come back again after taking the antibiotics.
