I've never had braces before, but a few of my good friends have. You really shouldn't eat candy, gum, popcorn, fruit snacks... Especially anything that would normally stick to your teeth without braces. Sorry, I can't help you on the subject of drinks, but I hope I helped and I hope you enjoy your braces! Lol

Sometimes it feel like everything sticks to your braces! I started using the platypus flosser from platypusco and it rocks! It's quick and easy and now I can eat just about anything I want.

Okay lemme tell you Its going to really suck if you are used to eating anything and everything like I was. Okay things to avoid

1) hard fruits and veggies. Apples and carrots happen to break brackets even if you are careful. If you cut them up first tho, it should be fine.
2) popcorn. For gods sake stay away from popcorn! It hurts when it gets stuck and it can be REALLY annoying.
3) anything sticky. I chewed gum a lot before braces and I tried it once thinking it would be okay... Broke off thee brackets. Ugh I miss gum but anyways stay away from things like saltwater taffy caramel especially and all that. If you have to ask whether or not its okay to eat chances are you shouldnt.
4) soda. Stay away from soda, ive been through the experience, and you don't want to. Stay away from any dink thats sugary for that matter.
5) Corn on the cob is horrible. Tastes good yes, but unless you want to spend three hours in front of the mirror with floss I'd stay away. Just eat canned corn.
5) like I said, if you have a question as to whether or not you should eat it, don't.

Now for the good stuff okay drinks... :D

1) NATURAL orange juice is good, just make sure it has no pulp because it can get stuck in your brackets. If its 100% juice then you can drink it.
2) milk is fine, in fact I reccomend it. Amazing lol.
3 anything without sugar would be okay. Just read the nitruition facts lol.

So yea getting braces also helps you make better eating habits and I lost 10 pounds in a month. I feel better and braces arent that bad if you take the time to care for them. :D hope this helped,

I had braces several years ago and I would the obvious things that your dentist will tell you not to eat such as gum is one, since I wanted to protect this expensive investment in my mouth. Things that I could have eaten but I didn't want to were popcorn, corn on the cob, ribs. Anything that could easily get stuck in my braces I stayed away from because it was a hassle to clean the food out.

Well, you mainly need to stay away from sugary sodas and sticky candies.  The sugar can get behind the brackets and cause tooth decay.  The Platypus Flosser that everyone is saying works good and easy must be pretty nice because lots of people have it.  Although, that doesn't mean you can eat anything you want.  Also, stay away from hard candy and foods like ribs, popcorn and corn on the cob.  You might be able to eat it off the cob.  I'm sorry to say that I have asked this question too, I got this information of the internet from websites like yahoo. I cannot say that this information is fully right.
