According to experts taking an aspirin daily especially a baby aspirin reduces one's chances of heart disease and if one has suffered a heart attack it significantly cuts the chances of another one occurring.

The medication has also been widely prescribed for people suffering from Type 2 Diabetes who are vulnerable to vascular diseases. Aspirin is said to derive its beneficial effect from its quality as a blood thinner it inhibits the platelets in the formation of clots in the blood.

However many of the long term effects of daily intake of aspirin have not been properly researched and it is not yet determined how much quantity of aspirin should be ingested for beneficial results. Also aspirin has been known to cause internal bleeding in the digestive tract especially since it reduces the stomach's inherent capacity to neutralize the acids produced during digestion which increases the likelihood of ulcers it is also an accepted fact that high intake of aspirin can increase the likelihood of a stroke.

In any case it would be a wise thing to take into consideration the pros and cons before taking an aspirin daily also one should not commence the therapy without consulting their doctor which other wise could prove to be dangerous as aspirin can produce an allergic reaction in people who are not used to it.
