An abortion is generally a procedure that is carried out by a doctor or physician at the request of the mother of the unborn child. However, there are some instances where a spontaneous abortion can occur in the mother when there are some unforeseen complications with the pregnancy. These are quite rare but devastating nevertheless when they do happen. The term 'abortion' is translated to an induced abortion of a human pregnancy at the bequest of the mother and father, whereas a spontaneous abortion is generally referred to as a miscarriage and there are a number of causes for this. A miscarriage or a spontaneous abortion in basic terms is the expulsion of the fetus or embryo because of natural causes or an accidental trauma to the body. This will generally happen before the 22nd week of gestation, but this can vary from country to country. As a rule of thumb, the majority of miscarriages are caused when the replication of chromosomes does not occur correctly but they can also be caused by environmental factors around the pregnant mother. A vast majority of spontaneous abortions or miscarriages occur very early on in the pregnancy and quite often the mother is never even aware that they have been pregnant. Other than the chromosome deficiencies, other causes can be diabetes, vascular disease, infections, abnormalities in the uterus or any other hormonal problems. Most of these conditions are extremely rare and if you can make it safely through the first 10 to 12 weeks of the pregnancy safely, your chances of having a healthy baby are greatly improved.

So, just because you don't want the kid AT THAT MOMENT means you are going to kill him or her? And, don't even MENTION rape, because no matter who the father is, the baby still deserves life and love. What happened to natural rights?

Some of the causes of abortion is that some times the father of the baby do not need the the child ,also the mother of the baby do not have any money to take care of the baby, and do not have any place to live

Outside of the abortion habit, which may be due partly to heredity or be caused by a diseased condition of the lining membrane of the uterus, the principal cause of abortion and miscarriage is syphilis. And when a woman has had two or three or four or more miscarriages in succession we generally assume the cause to be syphilis, and in most cases the assumption will be correct.

When an abortion is performed by an experienced physician, with the observance of the utmost cleanliness (asepsis and antisepsis), then the abortion is accompanied with very little or no danger; but when performed carelessly, by incompetent, non-conscientious physicians and midwives, the operation is fraught with great danger to the patient's health or to her very life. And abortion is a great cause of premature death and chronic invalidism among women. And as long as the people will remain ignorant of the proper means of regulating their offspring, so long will abortion thrive.

While I recognize that there are cases in which the performance of an abortion is perfectly justifiable from a moral standpoint, for instance in cases of rape or where the mother is unmarried, nevertheless abortion must be recognized as an evil, a necessary evil now and then, but an evil, nevertheless. It is never to be undertaken lightly or to be considered in a frivolous spirit; and it is the duty of all serious-minded and humanitarian men and women to do everything in their power to remove those conditions which make abortion necessary and unavoidable.

There are several types of abortion.  I will assume you are asking about spontaneous abortion. The most common reason will be progesterone, and estrogen levels were off.  But an in-depth interview is needed.  Smoking, past history of GYN issues (HPV, STD, and Endometriosis) and trauma could all play a part as well.  See you OB/GYN.

There are a lot of reasons why a woman engage in abortion. It's either she is not ready to be a parent, or has a health problem.

If you are talking natural abortion ,commonly termed  a miscarry, then one of the established causes is that it is natures way of "getting rid" or aborting what is abnormal.    But obviously many abnormal children are not naturally aborted!   If you are talking of a procurred abortion ( or miscarry, which is simply a common term for abortion ,either natural or procurred), then there are lots of reasons, from genetic sex linked diseases to mums health.
