It takes up to six days for the egg to get fertilized by the sperm. If the sperm successfully enters the fallopian tube, the egg drops down from the ovaries and enters the fallopian tube where the sperm then fertilizes the egg. It takes anywhere from 2 to 6 days for the sperm to make the journey. And only one sperm out of millions fertilizes the egg. After the egg is fertilized, it takes another 6 days for the egg to attach itself in the lining of the uterus.
