I would wait a minimum of 24 hours, maybe 48 depending how often you take xanax. I'm in the same dillema because I like to socially drink; however, I'm not willing to risk harming myself. One mistake and you may not get another chance. Just because you have survived if you have done it before, doesnt mean it will be safe again. Just as the body can get stronger, it can also get weaker. Look at Brittany Murphy, Heath Ledger, Michael Jackson, and River Phoenix.
Like I said I'm in the same dillema; however its just not worth it to chance.... I wait 48 hours, and if I absolutely need a xanax I make the decision right then not to drink, even if it ruins my weekend.
