The gestation period for a human being is nine months, after two thirds (six months) of the pregnancy the foetus will resemble a miniature version of the new born baby it will eventually become. At this stage the muscles and bones are becoming stronger and are continuing to grow. It will weigh around six to seven hundred grams and will measure, in length from head to toe somewhere between eight or nine inches. At week 12 (three months) the foetus has vocal chords, eye-lids and its kidneys have fully developed, enabling it to pass urine through into the amniotic fluid surrounding it. 20 weeks (five months) into the fetus development, the mother will be able to feel the infant moving around in her womb, the baby can also kick and punch the walls surrounding it. The baby will often move in rhythm with its mothers speech and can hear other outside noises.

There is a short video (under ten seconds long) at www.thevisualmd.com/videos/result/6_month_old_fetus_body_system showing an animated computer model of a fetus illustrating both the inner development and outer appearance at the six month stage of its gestation. YouTube has numerous videos uploaded by proud parents of the mother’s ultrasound sonograms, a particularly detailed one is located at youtu.be/j_Gy6CvjdL4 while the birth process from seven weeks through to six months is extensively explained in detail, along with pictures at www.lifesablessing.org/FetalDevelopment2.htm
