No, Promethazine will not get you "high". This drug is present in many forms of prescribed medication and should not be misused in this way.

If you snort Promethazine, will it get you high?
  • Promethazine belongs to a family of drugs known as phenothiazines. The drug is used to alter the chemical balance of the brain.
  • The drug is normally used as an antihistamine. This means it's used to diminish the effects of the naturally-occuring chemical, histamine, in the body.
  • When histamine levels are too high, it can cause cold-like symptons and therefore needs to be reduced. Promethazine does exactly this.
  • The medication is also effective at treating allergy symptons.
  • Normally it is prescribed to treat : Itching, a runny nose, sneezing, watery eyes, hives, skin rashes, motion sickness, the common cold and sleep disorders.
  • If you do feel any effect of promethazine, then it will most certainly be in the form of a slightly sedated feeling, rather than a "high".
  • The chemical is available over-the-counter in some countries, but normally it is only prescribed by a doctor. It is sold under the brand names : Phenergan, Promethegan, Fargan, Romergan, Farganesse, Prothiazine, Avomine, Atosil, Receptozine, Lergigan and Sominex.

Promethazine pills don't get you high - they're used for colds and stuff. The only type of Promethazine that gets you high is the syrup mixed with codeine. But you could take a couple of the pills with any opiate and it puts a twist on a regular opiate high.
