Its completely normal to have brownish blood, because Blood has iron in it, so when it is in contact with air, it will turn brown, like rust.
That's what you see at the start and end of your period. It's "old" blood.
In the middle when it's heavier, you'll see pink, red, or purple. All are normal. Don't worry. If you have brown blood it means you have more iron in your blood.

After menstruation the body has a way of cleaning itself out.  The uterus does this by secreting a slime like clear substance that is highly acidic to kill bacteria and fungi. Along with cleaning out all the bacteria it also gets rid of the access blood left over in the lining of the uterus after menses.  These red blood cells are dead now and tend to smell a little.  The combination of the slimey secretion, bacteria and dead red blood cells doesn't always make for the most pleasant of smells.

Brown or dark color periods can be due to old blood. Blood has its own smell. This smell is stinking in old blood. Beside blood smell, vagina can also be smelly because there are present some normal bacteria which keep the pH of vagina normal. Sometimes, over growth of these bacteria can increase the vaginal discharge and also smell. It can also be due to trichomonial infection. In my opinion, visit to a doctor for proper diagnosis and treatment.

I think it's normal to have a brownish color blood when you have your period. I usually have it really dark red and it's brownish on the last day or last two days which is really normal. You shouldn't worry about it.
I have a question though..... I just had my period and it's a really really really extremely light red. Is there something wrong with me? I can't seem to find the answer about it. I never had it this light or even light at all.

Most people say its normal for you to have a brownish color towards the end of your period but what about the second and third day. Ive been bloated for a month in a half, I'm eating a lot more, more tired than usual, and my boobs hurt like crazy. Whats wrong with me?

That is perfectly normal because some women will have a light period with a brownish discharge during her last days. Did you have a period that was normal for you last month? How many days was this period? Is there a possibility you could be pregnant?

Brown colored blood is old blood. I wouldn't be too concerned unless you are experiencing discomfort in your abdominal or vaginal area.  Go see your OB/GYN and get the final answer once and for all from your doctor.

Most of the time when the blood is brown it is old blood. There is no cause for concern or worry. It is perfectly normal and happens to everyone. If you are worried about it you can always call your local OB-GYN and ask one of the nurses for advice.
